About the Role
As a Mechanical Supplier Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the structural and mechanical integrity of eSAIL components manufactured by external suppliers.
This role focuses on welding, structural fabrication, coatings, and large-scale mechanical assemblies. You will oversee supplier qualification, process validation, and inspection activities to ensure compliance with bound4blue’s technical specifications and applicable maritime standards.
You will work closely with Product (Mechanical & Structural), Naval Architecture, Manufacturing, and Procurement teams to ensure that supplier performance meets the highest quality expectations.
Responsibilities
Conduct supplier qualification and product validation for structural and mechanical components of the eSAIL system.
Ensure supplier processes (welding, fabrication, coating, machining) comply with technical specifications and quality standards.
Develop and execute the annual Supplier Control Plan, including audits and follow-up reviews.
Perform on-site inspections at supplier facilities during fabrication and assembly stages.
Review welding procedures (WPS), qualifications, inspection reports, and structural documentation.
Lead Root Cause Analysis for mechanical and structural non-conformities and drive CAPA implementation.
Collaborate with Product and Naval teams during design reviews to improve manufacturability and structural robustness.
Qualify and approve suppliers in coordination with Procurement.
Implement preventive quality methodologies to reduce risk and improve mechanical reliability.
Guide Supplier Quality Inspectors when required and ensure consistency in inspection criteria.
Monitor and report supplier performance metrics related to quality, cost, and delivery.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Engineering, Structural Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in supplier quality or structural/mechanical fabrication environments.
Strong knowledge of materials, welding processes, structural fabrication, and coating systems.
Experience in wind tower, offshore structures, heavy metal fabrication, or large-scale mechanical assemblies is highly valued.
Experience conducting supplier audits in industrial manufacturing plants.
CWI/AWI certification is highly valued.
Familiarity with maritime or class society standards is a strong plus.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with structured Root Cause Analysis experience.
Results-oriented mindset balancing quality, cost, and delivery objectives.
Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
Native Chinese and fluent in English.
Availability to travel approximately 60–90 days per year
