About the Role
As a Logistics Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient logistics of materials and equipment needed by our external suppliers for the production process across Europe. You will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of supply chain logistics, working closely with internal teams and suppliers to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality delivery of materials. This role requires a combination of logistical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of production workflows to optimize the flow of resources across Europe.
Key Responsibilities
• Logistics Coordination: Oversee the planning, coordination, and management of logistics for materials and equipment needed by external suppliers to support the production process across Europe.
• Supplier Coordination: Maintain strong relationships with external suppliers to ensure they have the required materials and equipment on time and according to specifications.
• Supply Chain Optimization: Identify opportunities to streamline logistics operations, minimize delays, and reduce costs while ensuring efficient resource flow throughout the production process.
• Process Standardization: Develop and implement standardized logistics procedures to ensure consistency and reliability across all supply chain activities.
• Inventory Management: Collaborate with the internal inventory and procurement teams to ensure proper stock levels of materials and equipment, ensuring suppliers are equipped for production without interruption.
• Transportation Management: Coordinate transportation logistics to ensure timely and cost-efficient delivery of goods across Europe, managing freight forwarders, carriers, and delivery schedules.
• Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting: Address and resolve any logistics-related issues or delays that may arise, working closely with suppliers and internal teams to ensure minimal disruption to the production timeline.
• Collaboration with Internal Teams: Work closely with engineering, production, and purchasing teams to ensure alignment on material specifications, timelines, and logistical requirements.
• Documentation and Compliance: Ensure that all logistics documentation is clear, accurate, and compliant with internal policies and relevant industry regulations.
• Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Track logistics performance metrics, monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), and report on logistics activities, suggesting improvements when necessary.
• Continuous Improvement: Continuously seek ways to improve logistics efficiency, reduce lead times, and optimize cost management through innovative solutions and strategic adjustments.
• Travel Expectations: You will be expected to travel to various warehouses across Spain as part of the logistics strategy, to define a more centralized logistics strategy moving forward.
• Warehouse Responsibility: You will be responsible for the logistics operations of a small company-owned warehouse located 10´ from the office. This includes managing the structure and development of the warehouse logistics to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
• Inventory and Auditing: You will be responsible for overseeing the physical inventory and conducting regular audits in collaboration with the finance department to ensure inventory accuracy and consistency with ERP systems.
Required Competencies
• Degree: Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: +5 years of experience in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment. Experience working with international suppliers and logistics across Europe is an asset.
• Skills: Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to effectively coordinate multiple stakeholders across various locations.
• Knowledge: Strong understanding of logistics, supply chain operations, and inventory management processes. Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or similar process optimization methodologies is a plus.
• Tools: Proficiency in logistics management software, ERP systems, and tools for supply chain management and analysis.
• Languages: Fluent in English, both written and verbal; proficiency in other European languages is an asset.
• Attributes: Detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of working independently while managing multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
• Availability to Travel: Willingness to travel frequently (up to 35-40% of the time) to various locations across Europe and Asia to ensure operational alignment and project execution.
