About Us
We are a European startup dedicated to developing cutting-edge, automated wind-assisted propulsion systems. We aim to provide a turnkey solution for shipowners and shipping companies seeking to reduce fuel costs and emissions. Our vision is simple yet ambitious—we aim to power the world with wind.
Imagine a world where the vast oceans are effortlessly traversed using the clean and boundless power of the wind. At bound4blue, we are turning this dream into reality. We're not just creating wind propulsion systems but revolutionizing the maritime industry, one sustainable voyage at a time. While bringing sails back to ships may seem challenging, we are more than prepared for it. We are innovators who understand the perfect harmony between nature and technology.
About the Role
As a Process Engineer at bound4blue, you will be responsible for defining, creating, and optimizing manufacturing and operational procedures for our wind-assisted propulsion systems.
Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring that our suppliers have clear, effective guidance on how to manufacture and handle our products. This role will involve working closely with both internal teams and suppliers to ensure manufacturing processes are efficient, standardized, and aligned with the company’s quality standards.
You will be instrumental in establishing processes that support the smooth flow of production and the high standards we uphold at Bound4blue.
Key Responsibilities
• Process Design and Optimization: Develop, define, and continuously improve manufacturing procedures for the production of our wind propulsion systems.
• Supplier Guidance: Create clear and detailed procedure documentation to ensure suppliers have a precise understanding of the production processes and quality expectations for our products.
• Quality Assurance: Ensure that all manufacturing processes adhere to strict quality control standards, minimizing defects and ensuring the highest level of product quality.
• Process Standardization: Standardize manufacturing and operational processes across suppliers to ensure consistency, scalability, and reliability of production.
• Collaboration with Engineering: Work closely with the engineering and product development teams to ensure manufacturing processes align with product specifications and design requirements.
• Training and Support: Provide training and ongoing support to suppliers and internal teams on newly defined processes and procedures.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements, aiming to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and improve operational efficiency.
• Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting: Investigate and resolve any process-related issues or inefficiencies that may arise during production, working with suppliers to find solutions.
• Collaboration with Purchase: Work closely with the purchase team to assist with product specifications and design requirements.
• Documentation and Compliance: Ensure that all process documentation is clear, accurate, and compliant with internal policies and relevant industry regulations.
• Reporting: Track and report on the performance of implemented processes, suggesting improvements or modifications as needed.
Required Competencies
• Degree: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: 3-5 years of experience as a process engineer, preferably in manufacturing or supply chain management within high-tech industries like wind propulsion, automotive, or aerospace. Experience with manufacturing in China is an asset.
• Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process design skills, with the ability to implement solutions effectively.
• Knowledge: Thorough understanding of manufacturing processes, quality control, and process optimization. Other tools such as Kaizen, Lean, 6 Sigma, or others are an asset.
• Tools: Proficient in process design and analysis software (e.g., CAD tools, process simulation tools, and ERP systems).
• Languages: Fluent in English, both written and verbal; proficiency in other European languages is an asset.
• Attributes: Detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of working independently while managing multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment.
